BOS Foundation Financial Scholarship Program

The Bohring-Opitz Syndrome Syndrome Foundation, Inc. seeks to make a meaningful and concrete difference in the lives of individuals with BOS and their families.  The BOS Foundation launched the Financial Scholarship Program on February 1, 2019. This allowed the Foundation to offer scholarships to BOS families demonstrating a need for a product or service that will improve their child’s condition and/or their family’s ability to care for their child.  It is well understood that individuals with BOS suffer substantial medical and developmental challenges. What is less often recognized is that BOS families may be challenged to pay for often simple items that would improve their child’s life.

The BOS Foundation envisions that families will utilize scholarship funds to purchase:  augmentative communication devices, iPads, Firefly products, sensory integration products, adaptive toys, van/car modifications, minor home modifications, and similar items that are intended to improve the life of the individual with BOS and his or her family.  This list is illustrative and not exhaustive.

In order to receive a scholarship, the BOS family must complete and send in the Bohring-Opitz Syndrome Foundation, Inc. Financial Scholarship Application &  Agreement.  This application is located on the Foundation’s website. In order to be considered, the application must be received by April 30, 2023.    Applicants will be notified within 4 weeks on the decision that was made by the scholarship board. If approved, applicants must accept the scholarship via email and scholarship will be mailed within 2 weeks of approval in the form of a check. Additional scholarship application periods will follow and be announced at a later date.

It is not easy raising a child, or caring for an adult with complex healthcare needs and developmental challenges.  The BOS Foundation, through this scholarship program, intends to improve the life of the individual with BOS and his or her family by alleviating a financial burden related to the individual’s medical, therapeutic, mobility and/or similar needs.  If you have any questions about the scholarship program, please feel free to email info@bos-foundation.org.
